Come to Nice

Do you want to know why Nice is so popular all around the world ? Perhaps because of its soft subtropical climate, varied landscapes, abondant flore, or the magnetic qualities rising from the Mediterranean's deep blue color ? Yes - It's all of these reasons and much more...

In fact, with over 300 days of sunshine every year, the endless colors and tones of Nice's buildings, streets, and monuments explode under the almost never setting sun. The green pins caress the blue sky and the Mediterranean sea, yellow flowers and Nice's ochre buildings, with their endless color variations, charm and warm the hearts of world visitors under the French Riviera's sun. Can you begin to understand the fascination that the French Riviera has exerted on artists, painters, authors, sculptors, and musicians who have contributed to the Côte d'Azur's prestige ? You can surely imagine why Nice's museums have  rendered hommage to these past citizens and visitors.

Presently tourism is Nice's leading economic activity. Every imagineable leisure and touristic animation is available: sea-related activities, nature seekers, all sports, mountains lovers, museum fanatics, luxury shopping, business and convention facilities, everybody will find their Paradise here. The ACROPOLIS Art, Tourism, and Conference Center is considered one of Europes's best and found in a city which has a hotel capacity second only to Paris. If, in the past, Nice's CARNAVAL was its major claim to fame, it now offers numerous international cultural and sporting events that animate the city year-round.

While continuing to modernize its structures for its citizen, the city has been able to conserve its traditions in a rapidly changing world. Never forgotten are the customary holidays for the May Fest, Squash Festival, Wine Fete, or the local gastronomy. The local dialect "Niçois", a decendant of the ancient language "D'OC", is still commonly heard and is considered royal here.

Nice's heritage is  also scrupulously protected. Her historical building's frescos and the "trompe-l'oeil" walls and ceilings found in the old city are conserved and guarded for future generations. Cour Saleya's position as the predominate market-place for flowers, fruits, and vegetables and the fish market found in Square Saint François are continuously supervised inorder to offer security and authenticity to everyone.

Modern city-life needs parks and green spaces also and Nice is not lacking in this domaine either with 741 acres of gardens and parks; Sycamores, Bay laurels, pins, palm trees, etc. line the streets; and majestic water fountains decorate "Place Massena" and the Acropolis walkway. Walking paths circle the city and offer additional opportunities to discover splendid viewing points that allow visitors to admire the beauty of the "Bay of Angels". For over ten years Nice has been classified as having France's best developed flowers displays and public gardens.
